This Isn’t The End

‘You don’t speak much, and I’m running out of my stories now. You’re like my second diary, whatever I haven’t written in my journal I have told you’

She tried to show her anger for always being the one sharing her stories.

But the ‘Ahaan’ after few days from him, made her fall all over again.

Dragon’s Slave

Zack, the dragon king has branded me making me his personal slave. Haley, Zack’s cousin is far much better in temper than him. The only two people I trust here are Hayley, who always supports me and Jason, another pathetic human slave like me.

Me and Jason thought it won’t be that difficult to escape from this Dragon Kingdom but guess we were dead wrong. Haley already warned us not to try anything or there’ll be consequences but all I want is my family, my friends and my normal life back.

It was before twilight we started running. And Hayley came for our search as soon as she knew we weren’t at our normal morning chores. But before she could spot us in thick forest, she was spotted by human soldiers in the sky and they attacked blowing arrows at her.

Scared, me and Jason stay hidden behind trees as the leader of human soldiers examined the unconscious body of Hayley. I shudder at the thought of what will follow when Zack would find out that Hayley got in trouble because of me. Because the pathetic human slave tried a failed attempt to escape yet once again!!

‘Ashley!! Never try any move!! I repeat NEVER!! or I’ll punish you in the worst way!!’ Chills run down my spine as Zack’s words echo in my head.

One of the human soldier brought something to Haley to snort and she started to contract abruptly from her dragon form to a naked vulnerable human figure at the feet of human soldiers.

‘We should take her with us’ one of the soldier suggested.

‘Right now she’s no harm. So we better hurry before she wakes up’ But before the soldiers could decide anything the whole forest got lit up. All the soldiers started running leaving the area. The leader took out a sword from his sheath, some green liquid dripping off that sword. Trees crushed, braches fell as a dragon landed to the forest floor; Zack. I looked at Jason and gripped his shoulder digging my nails in.

The dragon king landed at a little distance from the leader digging his claws into dirt. Stretching his poison sword, the soldier warned Zack not to come any close. And suddenly for the first time I was scared for Zack’s safety.

‘You think that poison sword can scare me you pathetic human?!’ Zack asked mockingly.

‘Wanna try. I’ll show you!’ The leader hissed at the king.

Zack transformed into his strongly built human figure towering over the soldier. But as the sword touched his shoulder he started to get weak. Maybe this was some different poison!!

‘Still thinks the same?!’ The Human Soldier threatened The Dragon King gaining his confidence back.

I couldn’t take it any more. After all this was my fault. Haley was already lying unconscious and now Zack.

‘Jason we have to do something’ I whispered.

‘Whatever we do, we are dead anyway. So I’m in!’ Jason replied smiling. I gave a little smile thinking only Jason can smile at time like this!!

‘Dragon Lord on knees’ the human soldier laughed.

‘Hey!’ I shouted. I don’t know if that was bravado or insanity but the soldier looked at me with pity. Maybe he was shocked to see a girl, alone shouting for no reason in deep forest.

Jason hit the soldier’s head from back and his poison sword fell from his hand. As I was about to run to Zack, in that moment, in that short moment I recognized the face. I recognised the love in his eyes. All those moments we spent together flash through my mind.

‘Ash!!’ The human called out groaning in pain.
‘Brian!!’ He was my brother. My brother I was seeing after ten years, when Zack separated me from my family.

Zack rose to his feet and punched Brian, his body recovering from pain. I ran to Zack and pushed him.

‘Don’t touch my brother!’ I growled at the dragon king and it surprised both Zack and Jason.

‘Haven’t you learnt yet how to speak in front of your Master?!’ I stood next to Brian not caring about angry Zack.

‘You took her away from her family, from everyone’ Brian tried to sound confident but I know he was scared of Zack, after all Zack was all healed now!

Zack ignored Brian and looked at Hayley. Fuming with anger he announced ‘Run!’

‘Ash, lets run’ Brian said holding my hand.

‘I’ve only gave you permission to run. After what you’ve done to Hayley I should have killed you right at the moment. But I’m not killing you, only because you are her brother. NOW. RUN!!’ Zack shouted transforming back into his emerald green dragon form.

‘Brian no. Don’t go!!’ I cried.

‘Ash I’ll come back. I’ll take you with me’ and with that I lost my brother, again.

I fell to floor crying, my hand hit something sharp and blood started to come out. Next thing I knew Zack wrapped his dragon tail around my waist. I tried to escape but all in vain so I mind linked with him ‘You asshole. Leave me. I said leave me. Let me go’ I cried which only resulted in few grunts from him. ‘There’s no kindness in your eyes. I hate you. I never obeyed you and don’t think I ever will. I don’t care if you call me your mate or personal slave. I hate you. You should die Zack–‘

Before I could finish he started ‘Stop crying mouse and focus on what punishment is waiting for you. This time I won’t spare you. You think I can’t break you? Watch me this time. You need to know why I’m the Dragon King!’

I disconnected the mind link abruptly wishing someone would come and save me, wishing this all get over soon.

‘Br-Bri-Briann p-please come back…’

It Never Ends

I’d been trying to study but all in vain. I was just re-reading the same paragraph for probably the fifth time.
Aaron was the only one I knew in this all new city and even he was not here now. It had been a week since that night and there had been nothing but radio silence. He was clearly ignoring me. God knows why.
The incidents of last week how Nathan tried to grab me, were still fresh in my mind. Aaron helped me to report him to police, but the officer said they’ll just give him a warning for now.
Nathan must have found out by now that I’d reported him to the police. His words from that night were still ringing in my head ‘Kelly! Don’t try to run, ever. Because I’ll always find you and finish what…. ‘
My phone began buzzing dragging me out of my thoughts. The caller ID displayed an unknown number.

“Hey, Kells!” Aaron’s voice came from the other end. I hadn’t realized until then how much I was missing him.

“Oh it’s you Aaron” I replied brushing the thoughts of that night.

“Umm you okay?” My hand tightened around my book.

“Yeah-yeah. I-I’m okay. Ab-absolutely okay”

“Did Nathan was-… ” before Aaron could finish whatever he was thinking I interrupted him “No Aaron!”

“OK. My phone’s broken, so couldn’t inform you” Maybe he wasn’t ignoring me then!

“That’s fine”

“I’ll be back on Monday but if I don’t please cover for me” What?! Four days!! Disappointment sunk into me.
I couldn’t remember falling asleep but the sound of someone banging heavily on my door woke me in morning. As I got up I noticed my notes sprawled all over the bed. Adjusting my eyes to the brightness, I looked for time in my cell; 5:47am.
“Great! Who was missing me so bad this early morning!”
The banging increases and all the grogginess disappeared. Probably Aaron is back early. I jumped from my bed happily and grabbed the handle. But what if it’s not Aaron, an ugly feeling crept into my stomach.
“Who’s there?” I asked my voice shaky.
I recognised Nathan’s distinct laughter from his party. I felt terrified.

“Nathan what you want?” I asked my eyes shut. “I’m not scare of you Nathan”
“Oh yeah babe? Then open the door and say it to my face” I blinked back a hot surge of tears.
“KELLY!” he barked again and I covered my ears trying to block his voice.

“Kelly, baby open the door” he said trying to sound nice.

“Go away” I shouted. I grabbed my phone and dialed Lisa, Aaron’s friend. “Kelly” she answered groggily.

“Li-Lisa can you come please” I spoke between sobs.

“Hey sweetie what’s the matter? Sure me and Jack will be… ” my phone dropped from my hand when I heard a thud and my door creaked open.

Nathan came to my room. “Nathan p-please!” I plead in a fail attempt to get away from him, my voice hardly audible.
“Report me to police, babe?” He lit his cigarette.

“Where’s Aaron? Huh? I wanted to beat the crap out of him” Stink of alcohol lingering on his breath and clothes.
“You’re enough for now, baby” a series of chills shot down my spine.
The next thing I knew. I felt a muscular arm snake around my waist. His breath hitting my face as he whispered “Now watch me play nice!”

The Inevitable Goodbye

You standing there with knife,

While I wait with my heart.

You’re not here to stay,

What so wrong in this day?

Take me tonight,

Hurt me twice,

Show no mercy,

Just look me in the eyes,

Our history is in my heart

And your lies in my cries.

These streets know our secrets,

The radio still playing our song,

The silver moon still smiles at us,

Makes me wonder what went wrong.

I’ll feel the sweet loneliness,

I might cry at night,

But I promise,

I’ll be alright.
Take my heart,

Twist the knife,

Time for the last show,

The inevitable goodbye.

Baby, I’m ready

I remember,

The taste of your lips,

The sparks when we touched,

The way you made me feel,

With my eyes wide shut.
But now I’m here,
With your picture in my hand,

With your voice in my head,

With tears in my eyes,

Always searching for my shadow in the sky.
Still hoping,

That you’ll walk right in tonight.

You left me Torn

You always had different ways to tell me ‘I Love You’ in front of my parents.

You always used to found the third way to give me those tingling pecks, when my mumma was not looking.

How everything changed so much?

Wen all this came to an end?

I just want to dream again,

Like the good old times before the storm.

But I know it will never be same,

Because the day you walked away you left me torn.

Just my Luck!

I was cautious

I looked left and then I turned right

And there you were

The glitter in your eyes calling my name.

You spread your arms

And I ran to my only hope

I fell into your arms

As I take in your scent

And my fire start to burn.

I wanted to speak

I tried to speak

But your soft lips moving in sync with mine

Didn’t let me.

It wasn’t fierce

It wasn’t wild

Until,

You took your free hand down,

And further

Inside

Squeezing

Making me moan.

This time,

It was wild,

It was passionate,

Until,

I woke up from my dream.

Happy!

You left me in bed

with nothing but tears.

But now the well has dried

and I am stronger.

I know it makes you sad

that I’m happy now

and my eyes are searching no more for you.

I hope you do realise that

Souls with wings were made to fly.
